How To Make Facebook Work for Your Brand

This is not a statement pro or con about Facebook, but about ensuring your brand is properly communicated on social media.

From Facebook whistle-blower Frances Haugen:
“Facebook makes more money when you consume more content. People enjoy engaging with things that elicit an emotional reaction. And the more anger that they get exposed to, the more they interact and the more they consume.”

Read this same statement from a “brand perspective:
My Brand makes more money when you consume more of our content. People enjoy engaging with brands that elicit an emotional reaction. And the more negative content that they get exposed to, the less they interact and the less they consume of our brand.”

Brands that push negative content gain viewership. But, they ultimately lose the war as it turns off consumers and makes them less likely to identify and support (purchase) that brand. The medium per se is not the issue. Smart and purposeful brand content successfully leverages the advantages of social media.
