There are road trips … and then there are airplane rides. In this case, just outside Honolulu, Hawaii is The Kahala Hotel & Resort, our new client. Our social leaders have already visited to get a head start on a new social media program. And, to of course, properly understand and experience ‘the product.’ Not bad for a business trip, right?

We look forward to working with the client team is putting The Kahala back atop the list of top luxury destination resorts.

Our social team for Milani Cosmetics recently passed one of the leading brands, COVERGIRL, with more than 540,000 followers on Instagram.

It’s a great accomplishment for both GRM and the client. In January of 2014, Milani had 36,000 followers on Instagram. And today? We have more followers than not only CoverGirl, but also L’Oreal Paris, Rimmel London, Clinique, e.l.f., Lancome and Smashbox. Not too shabby, if you ask us.

Social Media Adds Value to Traditional Ad Campaigns.

GRM gets quite a few inquiries about social media. (Yes, we love referrals). Often, the questions relate to how social should be budgeted – what should be eliminated from the marketing program to make way for social. As chart from dailytekk.com confirms, social has very real value in the ad marketplace. Some facts to consider: 1. Social media is a reach vehicle at $5-7 cost per thousand, but not incredibly more efficient than good ad campaigns at some scale. 2. Social media posts are considered more credible than other forms of advertising. 3. Due to the very nature of the medium, social sites offer a tremendous pass-along value simply not there in other media. 4. Social sites offer the opportunity to test multiple messages, visuals and promotional concepts at no or little cost. With a very fast read on response. 5. Social media is measurable at a similar scale of syndicated media.

Danielle is an Atlanta native and is currently on break between her Sophomore and Junior year at the University of Georgia. Lover of red velvet cupcakes, music, and Sigma Delta Tau, she is making herself quite at home in the GRM office. Nike, Amazon and Trader Joe’s. Not brands associated with Millennials. Yet, they have something in common with Millennial-driven brands. They are adaptable to change. It has allowed them to cross generations of buyers and remain current, competitive and a leader.

We are in the ‘earthquake’ era of communications. Your brand story has to be big enough and resilient enough to handle social comments, reviews, referrals – all the ways a brand is communicated by someone other than the company.

Amazon is floating the idea of drone delivery  – which is probably not resonating so much with Boomers. But with Millennials, it demonstrates an inventive edge that feels more like a start-up than a category killer. The fact that the F.A.A. has initially shot down this concept likely only increases Amazon’s stature among government-distrusting Millennials.

The Power of the Media

A free media is the instrument of free speech. It is a hallmark of our society. It separates us as a nation from others. Social media in particular elevates individual stories. Like any other media, it can also be abused. The following link is an example of ’social bullying.’ However, it cuts both ways. In this case, the cyber bullies were outed. Literally.

Warning: The attached link has very graphic language. Moreso, it has very disturbing and demeaning thoughts.

But, we depart from our normal posts to share the idea that though we may believe we are in an enlightened age, the world has more in slavery than at any point in history. And, apparently those that would hide behind a computer and say things they would never say in public.

Here’s to one man who chose to turn the media around for good.
